They overcooked my shrimp and my steak. For that much money, they should be able to cook hibachi. I'm not going back.

Not horrible, not great, just MEH. Years ago it was the place to go for Japanese, with all the options now it would not be my first choice for hibachi or sushi.

My daughter asked her 13 year old son what he wanted for his birthday, said he wanted to go to a Japanese restaurant.Go figure. So 11 of us went to Kyoto. Seemed like most people there were celebrating some kind of occasion,so it had a festive atmosphere. I spent quite a bit of time in Japan and was looking for something familiar,so I ordered the Yakisoba, stir fried noodles ,chicken and veggies.,something I had eaten in Japan many times after a night of bar hopping, the national sport of Japan, that and Karaoke (UGH) The meal was fine but maybe if I was drunk as a skunk it would have been better like in Japan. Overall, everyone enjoyed themselves and it was a nice break from traditional restaurants.

If you don't mind bad service and empty apologies the food was good. Took 20 min to place order after being seated, took over an hour for chef to start cooking. Said they were short chef's acknowledged to us how bad their service was but charged full price. Really bad experience! Won't go back!

Not too far off 81, so the detour for lunch wasn't too bad. We had two sushi rolls, and the chicken&shrimp hibachi. Everything was freaking delicious. Especially the hibachi, the rice even had excellent flavor. Also the spicy yellowtail roll really hit the spot.

MAN! Total awesome lunch specials! Teryaki Salmon,rice,soup,4 peices of California Roll, two Gyoza(sp?) and a rad salad for $10!!! If lunch specials were Simpsons characters, this one would be Bart.....because it's truly RADICAL!

Awesome hibachi! The filet is terrific. Best sauces around Nepa too! Sushi is good but, there are many places in this area that make superior rolls for less $, hence the 3 stars. Defiantly worth checkin out tho. Especially on 1 of your party's birthdays

We go here as often as we can with and without our children, everything is always fantastic, for entertainment value the chef's at the hibachi table are flipping knives, eggs, shrimp you name it, our favorite is the onion volcano make sure you ask for it as it is not always done, but it makes me and my kids smile, the portions are always more than I can finish, but it tastes just as good the next day. Not only is the hibachi great but so is their sushi. One of the better hibachi restaurants we have been to since we left NY 10 years ago, you will not be disappointed.

Best hibatchi restaurant in Northeastern PA. You get the whole "show", but in a nicer atmosphere. The owner (Vinnie) will often come to your table to say hello (this is infrequent now, as he is devoting most of his time to his newer, fancier restaurant: Blue Wasabi). The food, I find, is more flavorful and better prepared than other hibachi places in the area. I prefer chicken, which can often get dried out while other's steak or shrimp is cooking. Here, its usually moist and has enough flavor that you don't even have to use the dipping sauces. I don't eat sushi, but my friends do and always like the preparation. Small, but well stocked bar.

Granted NEPA isn't the location of choice for great sashimi or sushi, but the selection here isn't bad. What I found dissatisfying was the cost (c'mon, the shop's located in a suburb of Scranton, not in a major metropolis) and that the guy ringing up the order decided to overcharge my credit card for a "tip". Pay in cash if you decide to dine here. If you're looking for quality Japanese food at a reasonable price in NEPA, try Blue Wasabi in Dickson City.

This place is gold. I recommend the Halloween roll for sushi, and the Samurai Combo at the Hibachi Table (steak & shrimp.) This place has delicious food and a nice atmosphere. The staff is really nice as well.

Japanese food in the style of Benihana's hibachi. Not a very original idea but the food is good. Best for groups of people, special occasions. Bring your appetite, the portions tend to be large! -The owner has his parking spot right in front of the place conspicuously marked... kind of pretentious.

If you love sushi or an entertaining night of hibachi this is the place to go. The service is very friendly, quick and the chefs at each grill make your dinner experience fun and enjoyable. The decor is a little too simple for such an authentic place. Its one of the few things I feel are lacking. The prices are what is expected of any hibachi grill, ranging from around $20-$35 a piece. Each course comes with soup, salad, fried rice and vegetables. The choice comes when selecting what type of meat you would like. Chicken, steak, shrimp, and possibly lobster if I remember correctly. Its not a place to have a quiet and intimate conversation but it is a ton of fun and good food.

I've been getting sushi from Kyoto for several years. Always fresh and delicious. A nice variety of rolls.

My favorite sushi place. The sushi is always fresh and you can usually find an open seat at the bar. The prices are reasonable and the portions are large. I've yet to have a bad experience.

Kyoto is the sister restaurant of Blu Wasabi in Dickson City and doesn't quite live up to its sibling. It is a Hibachi style Japanese restaurant where they will cook on a griddle built into the table. Overall the place the was pretty good, but I had a few complaints. First, the sushi was mediocre. I only tried the Tuna, but it wasn't that great. Secondly, the place is a little dirty. It's also dark which makes me wonder how dirty it really is, but they should really spend a little more time vacuuming the floor. My last compaint is the price, a little high for the quality of food. I will admit that it's comparable with other Hibachi restaurants I've been to, price-wise, but they're all too expensive. I guess you're maybe paying a bit for the show, but once you've seen it a few times and you're over the age of 12 it's nothing too impressive. Other than those complaints, I did enjoy the restaurant and the staff was very friendly. If you've never tried a Hibachi restaurant or have friends in towns, it's worth a visit.

Went to this place expecting standard hibachi fare. It pretty much is what I expected. The staff is very friendly tho and our waitress made us feel very welcome. The owner even came out at one point and introduced himself and asked how our meal was. I got hibachi New York strip which was perfectly cooked and seasoned. My girlfriend got hibachi shrimp and filet. Her meal was perfectly flavored as well. Our drinks were refilled very quickly as well. My only minor gripe is the hibachi chef was very quite and reserved which I'm not used to in a hibachi chef. He also gave me a very small portion of the delicious hibachi veggies, tho I did receive plenty of steak. All and all I left there full and satisfied. Will definitely return.

We had been coming to Kyoto since we moved to the area over 10 years ago. This is actually the place where I was first introduced to sushi. We have always liked the sushi, sashimi, specialty rolls and hibachi here. To be honest, we have been going less frequently for about a year, only because the menu hadn't changed in years and there was some new competition in the area. (That includes Blu Wasabi, owned by the same people.) Last weekend, I got a few rolls here for the first time in a while. I usually try to time my arrival for takeout about 5-10 minutes longer than they say, because this place gets mobbed. On this night, I ended up waiting about another 15 minutes after my scheduled pickup. No big deal, because I expect it and I'm not cooking dinner, so it's definitely worth the wait. Here's what has me pissed, and probably done with the place: I ordered four rolls that we've ordered many, many times before: Rainbow, Black Pearl, Spicy Lobster and Halloween. They have started to use filler (bread crumbs or panko, maybe) in the fillings and toppings of these rolls, AND they've upped the prices!! (To be fair, they didn't seem to adjust the prices on the menu for a long time, so they were probably due.) Still, the scallop topping on the black pearl roll that used to be raw scallop is now a bready paste. The filling for the spicy lobster roll is similarly pasty and NOTHING like it was any of the many, many times we've had them before. At least three of the four rolls are now made with a considerable proportion of cheap filler in place of fish. Hibachi has always been very good here, but I come for the sushi. Also, I don't like getting ripped off or tricked, hence the 2 star rating. Nothing against the ownership here: I recently had sushi from their other place, Blu Wasabi, and loved it. Another place in the area that is a good option (though not affiliated with the owners of Kyoto or Wasabi) is Atami. Either Blue Wasabi or Atami make considerably better sushi than Kyoto.

Food presented nicely. Then the waiter and sushi chef couldn't tell me what pieces where what. Desserts on the menu are no longer served. Made me pay the bar tender and waiter on separate tickets THEN the old bar tender with white hair and glasses REFUSED to give me my receipt copy until the owner came over. Worst customer service I've ever experienced!

Sat at the bar . The bartender Ryan was great . She always kept your drink full and made you feel right at home like you were a regular. Ordered sushi it was fresh and it came out quickly . Wasn't over priced . The decor could use some upgrading .

I dined here on a weekend when they close at 11. I called at 10:20 and they said they were still open until 11. I got there at 10:30 and about 20 employees just stared at my friend and I like they hated us. First off, it's the weekend and you don't close for another half an hour. Realistically, the place should have still been busy at that time if they were doing well from a business stand point. Secondly, they should be happy they were getting customers. Yes I am a late diner, but also a truly phenomenal tipper. I'm not going to walk in last minute, but if I'm there half an hour before close I'm not going to feel bad, especially if I call ahead. Now to the food. I ordered the Kyoto fried chicken as an appetizer and it was amazing. It was like Japanese fried chicken (a tempura deep fry with the chicken in strips) and it came with a sweet honey-mustard sauce that was delicious. My friend and I ordered chicken hibachi with noodles in addition to the rice and veggies (we love carbs and carbs love us). The miso soup and salad that came out were above average. I LOVED the dressing on the salad, especially compared to the one Osaka uses. This is the same type of dressing Blu Wasabi uses and it's scrumptious. The chicken hibachi was also above average. The sauce was like a glaze and everything had amazing flavor. I asked for spicy mayo, but never got it. Overall, the food was a lot better than I expected, but I hate feeling like I'm bothering a restaurant or being rushed. I will definitely come again, but not so late.

Really friendly hostess and bartender service, but the hibachi experience was lacking both in flavor and performance. While I enjoyed the onion soup and the creamy ginger dressing on the salad, I found the fried rice to be bland, and the steak to be tough, even though I asked for it to be cooked at medium temperature... it was definitely well done. The dipping sauces were just okay. Even though the most important thing for me is the flavor and value of the food, the point of hibachi is to give the table a little show - our chef kind of phoned it in. He wasn't unpleasant, but he was definitely not engaging our table. And there wasn't a onion volcano to be seen for miles. Katana remains my favorite hibachi restaurant in NEPA.

Love their sushi and the owner is awesome! I go there for my birthday sometimes and they make a big deal. Love it!

I've had much better sushi for a lot less nearby at Blu Wasabi or Kabuki. I think there was a lot of hype around this place when it first opened since it was the only place like it for few years and was fun for parties... but now it's at the bottom of the decently long sushi/hibachi restaurant list. As for hibachi, it was good. Nothing more and nothing less. Then again I don't love hibachi and think it's all the same anyway. Go to the aforementioned restaurants less than 2 miles away instead for a better meal.

I really enjoyed this sushi. I loved the balance of my veg rolls with the fruity roll (which you won't find just anywhere). The appeal of this strip mall residing establishment was that it stood out kind of like a hut, spacious but also suprising once the hibachi grille burst into flames right behind my table. I would say this was a good deal because I left feeling very full as most sushi meals I feel more satisfied than full. I liked how the waitress described the fruity roll as "fruity" as well, quite accurate. I'd go again for sure, had a grand time with the football game on the television in plain sight. Everyone was very kind and lots of fruitiness in the air.
